The Alberta Trauma Registry and KIDSAFE Connection have again collaborated to produce a Pediatric Major Trauma Report, presenting a picture of trauma-related injuries for Alberta's children.
The Child & Teen Major Trauma in Alberta Report includes information on the epidemiology, process of care, and outcomes of major traumatic injuries with an Injury Severity Score (ISS) ³ 12 among children and teens aged 0 to 19 years who were admitted to trauma centers in Alberta. This information is used to improve trauma care as well as to support injury prevention activities.
While this report focuses on the 348 child and teen major trauma patients who were treated at a trauma center during the 2000/01 fiscal year, it also includes data on patients admitted during the previous four years in order to describe trends over time.
