Getting into Gear – Keys to Starting Your Driving Experience
Complimentary Health Resource Material for Junior High

In partnership, Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation and Kidsafe Connection, Stollery Children's Hospital has developed Getting into Gear – Keys to Starting Your Driving Experience.  This kit was created to introduce Alberta's youth to the driving experience and to promote safe driving skills and attitudes.  In May 2007, Getting into Gear - Keys to Starting Your Driving Experience, was a regional winner of the AAMVA's (American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators) PACE Award.

Getting into Gear – Keys to Starting Your Driving Experience, has been approved by Alberta Education for use in Alberta schools, and complements Alberta Education's Program of Studies for Health and Life Skills for grades 7 to 9, and Career and Life Management (CALM) for grades 10 to 12.  Learning links also exist in Art, Drama, Information and Communication Technology, and Language Arts.

This kit contains a variety of resources for your use focusing on risk management, Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL), parent involvement, and teen contracts.  A brief explanation of the kit contents is provided below.
