Capital Health seeks additional healthy seniors as volunteers

Study on prevention of colds published in Canadian Medical Association Journal

Edmonton, Canada – A study published in the October 25/05 issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) showed that healthy adults (aged 18-65) who were taking COLD-fX® had 12.8 per cent fewer recurrent colds and a reduction in the mean number of colds compared to those taking placebo.

Capital Health continues to recruit participants for another COLD-fX® research study during the winter season. Response has been good but more volunteers are needed to reach the target enrollment of 360 subjects.

Now that we are in the season of colds and influenza, Capital Health is seeking healthy seniors who have had their annual influenza immunization to volunteer for a clinical study with COLD-fX® to evaluate its effectiveness in protecting people over 65 from influenza and cold viral infections.

Dr. Gerry Predy, Capital Health's vice president for Public Health and medical officer of health notes, "We are interested in the positive potential implications for seniors, who are often affected by respiratory tract infections, especially during the winter season."

COLD-fX® is a natural health product, licensed in Canada.
