Conference Proceedings

The first bi-annual Greying Nation national conference will address how the healthcare sector can adapt care to the changing needs of the population in the later stages of the life cycle. Conference topics will include: models of care, service delivery and education; changing needs of an aging society; innovative technologies and perspectives on aging as expressed through the visual arts.  These topics will be explored in depth by internationally renowned speakers. We have confirmed several key speakers such as Stephen Lewis, Chair of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and former United Nation Special Envoy, who will open the conference in an address at the Welcome Reception; and Baroness Susan Greenfield, a UK neuroscientist and international expert on the brain who hosted a BBC series and wrote "The Human Brain: A Guided Tour".  Baroness Greenfield will provide a stimulating presentation on "New Brains for the Old: The Impact of 21st Century Technology".

The Greying Nation conference aims to attract a broad spectrum of delegates from across the healthcare system, including physicians, allied health professionals, primary care providers, health care executives, researchers, administrators, and policy and decision makers from across Canada.  Highlights of the conference include the Exhibit Hall, and the launch of The Greying Nation Photographic Exhibition.

Please contact the conference committee should you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you in Edmonton in March!

As preparations for the conference continue, more specific information will become available. Please check back regularly for updates.
