Building a better health system, based on evidence
The Integrated Centre for Care Advancement through Research (iCARE) is a joint venture between Capital Health and the University of Alberta. iCARE creates a leading health outcomes research centre that improves health-care delivery, health policy and the health of Albertans.
iCARE is a bold new concept that is designed to transform the way health research is conducted and knowledge translation is achieved. iCARE brings together researchers, clinicians and decision-makers to collaboratively conduct research and apply the findings. iCARE goes beyond simply publishing the findings; research teams incorporate implementation and evaluation of practice and policy change arising from the findings.
iCARE's integrated approach to the scientific method was established in September 2005. Dr Shoo Lee was appointed as the centre's inaugural Scientific Director, and is supported by a Governing Board with representation from both Capital Health and the University of Alberta. iCARE headquarters and research space is located on the third floor of the Environmental Engineering Building at 112th Street & 87th Avenue.
