Pediatric Orthopedics provides assessment, intervention, education and follow-up for children who require surgical or medical (non-surgical) management of conditions of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, muscles, tendons). Reasons for referral include general orthopedic care (fractures and acute infections or injuries); leg-length discrepancies (either congenital or acquired); hip instability (congenital dislocated hip (CDH), Legge-Perthes disease); tumours of the bones or muscles; scoliosis and other spinal disorders; foot deformities (club feet, flat feet) and hand deformities, as well as musculoskeletal problems associated with Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy or other neuromuscular diseases.
