Parking Areas
 

  1. Two-level pay and display parkade in front of the
    Active Treatment Centre. Enter off of Kingsway Ave.
    and 102 St. Credit card/coin.
  2. Pay and display lots near the Community Services
    Centre. Enter off of 111 Ave. or Kingsway Ave.
    Credit card/coin.
  3. Parkade on the corner of 102 Street and Kingsway
    Ave. Enter off of 102 Street. Credit card/cash
    (pay when exiting).

Parking Passes
 
Weekly and monthly parking passes can be purchased at the following locations:

  1. Cashiers Office - Active Treatment Centre, Basement Level.
  2. Parking Office - Materiel Management Centre, Rm. 100 (corner of 111 Avenue & 102 Street)
    • Entrance on west side of building 
  3. Discount Monthly passes are available for long term visitors or patients - see Nursing Unit for authorization form.

Lost & Found

Located: Environmental Services Room SB 328, Active Treatment Centre

Mail Services

  • We will send your personal mail to your unit, through the hospital mailroom.
  • An electronic greetings service for friends and family wanting to send well wishes to their loved ones who are inpatients is also available.

Newspapers

Newspapers are delivered daily by Volunteer Services, free of charge (we can't guarantee that there will be enough for each patient).

Personal Television and Telephone Rental Service

Hospitality Network, in partnership with Royal Alexandra Hospital, is pleased to provide patients with personal bedside television and telephone rental service. A portion of the revenues generated is returned to the hospital to help fund various hospital improvements.

Prices:

  • Phone - $4.00per day (plus applicable taxes)
  • Basic TV - $9.00 per day (plus applicable taxes)
  • Premium TV - $12.00 per day (plus applicable taxes)

Ask about our special rates for long term patients.

To arrange for service, patients may complete an order form and return to the secure lock box at the display stand or call 780-735-5266. Service will be activated daily between 11 am and 7:30 pm, excluding statutory holidays.

We accept cash, cheque (with ID), VISA and MasterCard. Payment is due upon activation and renewal.

Interpreters

If language is an obstacle to clear communication, the RAH provides interpreters for patients and their families at no cost.

Unit staff can arrange an in-person interpreter, telephone interpretation or sign language interpretation as needed.

Ask Unit staff about an interpreter or call Multicultural Services at 780-735-4134 or Pager 780-445-6105 for interpretation assistance.

The Active Treatment Centre Main Admitting and Women's Health Admitting have TTY Phone Sets available for use by persons who are deaf.

Before & After Surgery

Before your surgery, your doctor will provide you with a Pre-Admission Pamphlet that tells you what to do to prepare for surgery, and how to sign-up for our Pre-Admission Clinic. At the clinic, you will learn what you need to do before and after surgery.

Accommodations

For information about lodging close to the hospital, for patients and family members call Social Services at 780-735-4410.

For new parents, rooms in our Community Services Centre can be booked through Unit 38 in the Women' Health.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on most units. Some units have designated quiet times. Critical and Intensive Care Units are open 24 hours a day for family members only.

Smoking

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is committed to providing patients, visitors, staff and volunteers with a smoke free site effective July 13, 2005. This ban includes all building, parkades [including vehicles in parkades] and all other hospital property. 

Patients who smoke will be provided with access to nicotine patches or nicorette gum, free of charge, during their hospitalization.  Smokers choosing to use one of these aids can speak to their physician, nurse or pharmacist about obtaining the product. 

ATM / Bank Machine

An ATM is located in the Main Lobby of the Active Treatment Centre and in the Food Court Basement Level.

Food Court & Kiosk

Our Food Court is located in the basement level of the Diagnostic Treatment Centre. The Food Kiosk is located on the main level of the Women's Centre.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop, located in the main lobby of the Active Treatment Centre, is operated by the volunteer members of the Royal Alexandra Hospital's Women's Auxiliary.

Hours of operation:

  • 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weekends and holidays

Flower Delivery

Flowers are normally delivered directly to the unit by the florist delivery service. If ordered through the Gift Shop, they will be delivered by volunteers.
