Patient Handbook

Here are a few things you should be aware of with respect to the Northeast Community Health Centre (NECHC). Please note that patients requiring overnight stays will be sent to other Capital Health hospitals, as we are not equipped to provide that service.

Map/Directions

The NECHC is located north of Manning Freeway and then northwest on 50th Street.

Landmarks in the area include:

  • North of Superstore and Costco (located on 137 Ave and 50 Street)
  • West of Clareview LRT station
  • Immediately south of the new North Division police station on 50th Street
  • East of Manning Crossing shopping centre (Safeway, AMA)

Bus stop numbers can be found by phoning Edmonton Transit System (ETS) BusLink at 780-496-1600

Valuables and accessories

We make personal belonging bags available, but advise you to leave all valuables at home.

There are pay telephones and a public television in the main waiting room, as well as a direct phone line to Capital Health LINK, and a phone directly linked to Yellow Cab.

Mail Services

Canada Post delivers mail daily to the centre but there is no public mailbox on the site.

Newspapers

The Edmonton Sun newspaper is available for purchase at the front entrance from the Sun vending machine.

Parking

The NECHC has a limited number of free parking spaces and designated handicap-parking stalls.

Accessibility Services

The NECHC is wheelchair accessible and has designated handicap-parking stalls.

Security

Security is provided on-site 24 hours a day. Our security department also looks after lost and found articles.

Lost and Found

Any lost and found items are forwarded to our security department (780-472-5055).

Multicultural Health Brokers

Sometimes, newcomers to the country have trouble with the health system, either because of a language barrier, or because they're unfamiliar with how the system works.

Our interpreters can help you during your visit with a doctor or nurse. We will follow-up to see how you're adjusting to our health system, and also connect you and your family with other resources.

How to reach a multicultural health broker

Please contact one of the following team members:

Iman Abdou at 780-619-7692
Jalal Abas at 780-619-7693
Linda Lam at 780-619-7694
Deaf and hard of hearing

Unfortunately, there is no TTY service available at the NECHC.

Other Services
