About Us

The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is a health care facility unique to Alberta. We are devoted primarily to high-level rehabilitation care of both adults (including the elderly) and children.

The Glenrose also provides research and education opportunities for health care professionals.

In cooperation with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, the Glenrose is the academic centre for the following University medical education programs: the Physical Medicine (Physiatry) Program; the Geriatric Residency Training Program; the Geriatric Psychiatry Resident Program; and the Care of the Elderly Resident Program for Family Physicians. As well, we are actively involved in post-graduate training for pediatrics and pediatric psychiatry.

We also work closely with physical and occupational therapists and speech language pathologists from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is a keen partner in research and education with these faculties and others including Nursing, Engineering and Recreation & Physical Education.

Services and Resources
In order to make the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital more easily accessible to everyone we now have a pay phone with Keypad Teletypewriter (TTY) service.

This phone, located on the main floor across from the Auxiliary Corner Store,  offers communications options for the deaf and hard of hearing. The interface is similar to instant messaging services currently utilized by many members of the deaf community. Service includes:

  • TTY to TTY Calling
  • TTY to Voice Calling (711 Message relay Service)
  • Voice to TTY Calling (711 Message relay Service)

The Audiology department also has a number of portable TTY phones available that can be plugged into any telephone jack on the site.  If there is a temporary or long term need for this type of phone on a unit or in a program area, please contact the Audiology department.
