The heart institute was designed in collaboration with architects and cardiovascular specialists from some of the world's best heart institutes.
Designed around a theme of wellness, the bright, high-tech building is being constructed to achieve silver LEED certification for leadership in energy and environmental design.
The heart institute will continue to grow over the next few years—in fact, its top three floors are shelled-in to allow for future expansion.
It will include:
132 beds - with shelled space for 20 more
- five adult operating rooms - with room for one more
- one dedicated pediatric operating room and catheterization lab
- two adult cardiac catheterization labs
- three electrophysiology labs designed for pediatric and adult patients.
