Alberta Health Services Weight Wise program is a region-wide initiative focused on helping residents achieve healthy weights for healthy lives. This program addresses the obesity epidemic that exists in our population today and is aimed at helping stop the incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and many others.
Weight Wise provides you with tools, access to experts and information, plus programs and services to help you reach a healthy weight for improved health.
In it for the Long Haul - Take control of your health for the long haul with the Weight Wise Progress Tracker. This online tool tracks your progress, supports you with reliable information and tips, and provides you with feedback to help you achieve your goals. The tracker is personal, confidential, and quickly accessible by logging in as a registered participant.
Check out the Weight Wise Community Network for a list of community partners who can provide you with support to help you eat healthy, get active, and achieve a healthy weight.
You can also learn how to make healthier choices by attending a Alberta Health Services - Edmonton Area Weight Wise workshop. Informational workshops are offered as a two-part series to help you create your own plan or support your family in weight management.
The Adult Weight Wise Community Workshops help adults develop healthier lifestyles and practice strategies to better manage their weight.Alberta Health Services also offers programs for those requiring additional medical assistance to address their weight issues, including a physician's referral.

Edmonton Obesity Staging System (PDF) NEW!

The Adult Weight Management Clinic engages the patient with a multidisciplinary team of health specialists to treat obesity. A doctor's referral is required.
The Pediatric Centre for Weight and Health (PCWH) delivers and evaluates weight management programs for overweight children between the ages of 8 and 17. A doctor's referral is required. The program engages pediatric patients and their families with a multidisciplinary team of health specialists to help kids develop healthy weight management behaviours. The program operates out of two sites: Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre and Misericordia Community Hospital.
