- Cholera
Cholera is caused by bacteria that may produce severe watery diarrhea with dehydration. - Ciguatera
Ciguatera fish poisoning is a disease associated with eating fish that contain a poison produced by plants in some tropical waters, particularly in the Caribbean and South Pacific. - Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E
Hepatitis A and the less common Hepatitis E are infection of the liver caused by viruses usually spread by food, water, or shellfish contaminated with sewage. - Polio
Polio virus, which is now limited to a small number of countries in Africa and southern Asia, is spread through contaminated food and water and can cause paralysis. - Traveller's Diarrhea
Travellers' diarrhea is usually caused by germs (bacteria, parasites or viruses) which have contaminated your food, water or fingers. Even a change in the environment can cause mild diarrhea. - Typhoid
Typhoid is a bacterial illness that is spread by contaminated food and water. It is much less common than hepatitis A and so most often occurs in higher risk travellers, especially to the Indian subcontinent.
