The Injury Prevention Program within Community Health Services has identified several key areas on which we focus. These activities are based on information regarding how children are injured at various stages in their lives. The focus for our work is to support schools by providing materials that support the curriculum around safety issues, particularly traffic safety.

Kindergarten – Grade 6 and Grades 7-9.
These manuals identify the safety and responsibility outcomes for the health curriculum and possible community resources that would support meeting those outcomes.

Free information and materials aimed at elementary students on traffic safety issues such as school bus, child pedestrian, bike and in-line skating safety.
Bicycle Helmet Safety - www.capitalhealth.ca/kidsafe
Bike helmet teaching kits that contain all the materials necessary to teach children about the importance of helmets and how to fit one are available to borrow across the region.
