Edmonton & Area Child & Family Services

Edmonton & Area Child & Family Services Region 6 (CFSA) is one of 10 Child and Family Services Authorities in Alberta that are responsible for the planning and delivery of services to children, youth and families.

Edmonton & Area Child & Family Services Region 6, was established in 2003 and provides services to children, youth and families residing in the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas, including Alcomdale, Alexander First Nation, Ardrossan, Beaumont, Bon Accord, Calahoo, Calmar, Carvel, Devon, Duffield, East Sturgeon County, Enoch Cree Nation, Entwhistle, Evansburg, Fallis, Fort Saskatchewan, Gainford, Gibbons, Kapasiwin, Lancaster Park, Leduc, Leduc County, Legal, Morinville, Namao, New Sarepta, Nisku, North Cooking Lake, Parkland County, Paul First Nation, Redwater, Riviere Qui Barre, Rollyview, Seba Beach, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Spruce Grove/ Aspen, Strathcona County, St. Albert, Stony Plain, Sunnybrook, Thorsby, Tomahawk, Wabamun, Warburg and Winterburn.

These communities have a combined population of approximately 954,901 as per Alberta Health Care Insurance Program March 2002.  Children aged 0-17 make up 30.3% of the population.

Mission
To strengthen the capacity of communities to enable children, youth and families to succeed and reach their full potential.  We will ensure the provision of effective programs, services and supports that: 

  • create safe and nurturing environments;
  • are timely, community-based and integrated;
  • respect and value cultural and spiritual diversity;
  • recognize and utilize community and individual assets;
  • result in self-reliant individuals, families and communities.
