Healthy Eating

You can help lower your risk for heart disease by following Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.

  • Enjoy a variety of foods from all four food groups.
  • Eat more grain products such as cereals and breads and vegetables and fruit, which are high in fibre.
  • Choose lower-fat dairy products, leaner meats and food prepared with little or no fat.
  • Achieve and maintain a healthy body weight by enjoying regular physical activity and healthy eating.
  • Limit salt, sugar, alcohol and caffeine in your daily food choices.

You do not have to give up the foods you love - just aim for variety and moderation.
