Provincial Access Standards work has led to the development of provincial prioritization scales for outpatient CT and MRI procedures. These prioritization guidelines will be applied by radiologists to schedule studies within medically appropriate timelines in each Region across Alberta. So that radiologists can accurately prioritize study requisitions, it is important that referring physicians provide detailed histories and complete the requisition form in full. If the study is not booked within what the referring physician feels is an appropriate timeframe, the referring physician needs to discuss the case directly with a radiologist.
