About Us

Capital Health has established an Office of Emergency Preparedness, and has adopted an incident management structure – matching the models already adopted by the City of Edmonton, industry and the Province.

The Capital Health Office of Emergency Preparedness is responsible for:

  • ensuring that all Capital Health site/sector emergency response plans are in place
  • coordinating plans with provincial/ municipal authorities as appropriate
  • educating health care workers about emergency management on an ongoing basis
  • developing emergency management plans and communicating plans to external partners
  • scanning the environment and identifying threats at an early state
  • deploying and coordinating resources in response to events.

Who's who in the Office of Emergency Preparedness:

  • Eric Bone
    Regional Director, Office of Emergency Preparedness
    Eric oversees the Office of Emergency Preparedness and is responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of Emergency Preparedness response and business continuity program in the Capital Health Edmonton and Area.  In addition, he is responsible for maintaining a smooth and seamless relationship with Capital Health's emergency preparedness partners and stakeholders.
  • Roger Gibson
    Senior Emergency Management Officer
    Roger works with the sites and sectors within Capital Health to develop and implement their emergency response plans.  He is responsible for staff training and development in emergency preparedness and delivers courses on the Incident Command System and how Emergency Operations Centres function. 
  • Judi Gray
    Program Assistant, Office of Emergency Preparedness
    Judi is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office, and provides administrative support to all of the Program staff.   In addition, Judi is a key contact for internal and external partners and stakeholders for the Office of Emergency Preparedness
  • Shawn Grono
    Emergency Management Officer - Operations
    As a member of the Emergency Preparedness team, Shawn is responsible for the development, management and evaluation of the Community Triage Centre (CTC) project.  During an influenza pandemic, the CTC will prioritize patients for acute treatment, provide some interventional care, and defer patients from the emergency department that can be safely treated by other means.
  • Gregory G. (Greg) Rochon, RN  
    Emergency Management Officer – HAZMAT / CBRNE
    Greg brings with him years of valuable experience including 15 years in multiple Critical Care areas preceded by several years with the Canadian Armed Forces Health Services, practicing mass casualty response and nuclear biological and chemical defense with NATO. Along with multiple military certificates, Greg holds a Diploma in Nursing from Algonquin College in Ottawa and certification in emergency preparedness from the Justice Institute of British Columbia. Greg has copyrighted, developed and coordinated multiple training programs for diverse critical care areas. Since Greg's arrival to Edmonton in 2000 Greg has played an active role in training nursing staff in critical care and has been an active participant in Capital Health's pandemic planning.
  • Olivia Anastasiadis
    Program Assistant, Office of Emergency Preparedness
    Olivia provides direct administrative support to the Senior Emergency Management Officer, as well as the Business Continuity Program. Olivia is our key point of contact for staff training and/or registration. She holds a Diploma in Medical Office Administration and is a certified Medical Office Instructor through Heartbeat International.
  • Jacqueline Halverson:
    Program Secretary, Office of Emergency Preparedness
    Jacquie provides administrative support to our Emergency Management Officer - Operations and our Emergency Management Officer - CBRNE/HAZMAT. She is responsible for coordinating and supporting their various committees, and assists with the day-to-day operations of our office. Jacquie is our key contact regarding the Edmonton Zone Essential Services database administration. Her recent work experience includes working with Alberta Environment and Quantum Environmental on the 2005 Wabamun train derailment/oil spill
