Dietetic Internship Program

A dietetic internship provides practical training in nutrition and food service after completion of a University degree in Foods and Nutrition. Once the internship program is completed, the graduate is eligible for registration with the provincial college and can use the designation of "Registered Dietitian".

Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

STEP is a Government of Alberta Human Resources and Employment wage subsidy program that allows for a number of summer project positions to be partially funded.

The summer positions offered by Alberta Health Services - Capital Health are created to accomplish specific objectives which are beyond the operational work of the area. Positions range from assisting with specific clinical, administrative or research projects and create excellent opportunities for post secondary students to gain training and exposure that could be of benefit in their field of study. 

Each position varies in length of time as well as hours worked, location, salary and types of duties involved.  The duration of the positions is at least 6 weeks in length. CAREERS: The Next Generation - Summer Health Internship Program

This program is a collaborative partnership between CAREERS: The Next Generation, school districts and health employers. It runs for approximately 6 weeks during July and August and provides Grade 11 and 12 students an opportunity to gain work-based learning experiences in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, labs, clinics and long term care facilities. 

Alberta Health Services - Edmonton is proud to sponsor this initiative and has provided unique opportunities for hundreds of Grade 11 and 12 students in the Edmonton and surrounding areas to gain hands on experience in a health related field and develop employability skills.

Health Sciences Career Camp

Alberta Health Services, CAREERS: The Next Generation, NAIT, and MacEwan offer a 5 day summer program in August for students, grades 9 to 12, to explore careers in the health sciences.  Participants have the opportunity to test drive 20 different health sciences programs by participating in hands-on demonstrations and fun and challenging activities. more...
