The Population Health Survey, is a cross sectional survey of residents of the Capital Health region that is undertaken every two to three years to provide trend information on a variety of population health indicators. Each survey will be designed to focus on particular themes, based on priorities identified by the Capital Health board.
The primary focus of the 2002 Population Health Survey was on physical inactivity and tobacco use, including cessation. Detailed analysis of the smoking results was provided in North East Edmonton specifically. Additional questions were asked about exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS), Body Mass Index (BMI) and fruit and vegetable consumption.
